What’s in the Creative Mind of Tom Ford?

I recently saw this on my news feed and wanted to share with everyone this amazing documentary of a man who has changed the face of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford. Today, he is one of the most influential designers in the international fashion industry.

Hope you were able to learn something new through this documentary.

Yours Truly,

P.S. I totally love his design studio which will be one of the pegs of my very own.

Ms. Cebu 2012 – 1st Runner-up – Chloe Palang

CONGRATULATIONS TO CHLOE PALANG for MS. CEBU 2012 – 1st RUNNER-UP!!

You were amazing, love and I’m super happy for you!!!!

I’m super proud of Chloe Palang who I personally pushed to joined Ms. Cebu and as promised, I would do her accessories during the coronation night.

And the best part was that I would be collaborating with one of my mentors, Oj Hofer who Chloe was able to pick to do her dress during the coronation night.

Our peg for this year’s theme was the Burial Mask that was found during the construction and excavation of the SRP Tunnel in Plaza Independencia. And to be honest, it really was not a pretty peg to find inspiration so we decided to capture the essence of the Burial Mask.

I love the elegant and theatrical design of the dress which Chloe was really able to capture as she walked the stage. Super proud of her. As in! Grabeh! All the way!

At first when you see her, you would see a classic silhouette with a vambrace that I made in her arms using hammered brass to give that archaic feeling but I’m wondering if people were able to see that the vambrace actually has a face on it.

Then we she turns. SURPRISE!

A hammered brass cut-out face that was hand stitch to a body suit.

I was really happy with the reaction of everyone who saw this surprise because that’s what Oj and I was hoping and we were really able to achieve it. Yipee!

I of course want to thank Bibi De Los Reyes for taking such beautiful pictures just as he did with last year’s Ms. Cebu where I did Ms. Cebu 2011 winner, Mia Ali whom I personally made the earrings for.

If you haven’t read or you want to simply re-read that post, just click on the link below.

Mia Ali Faridon, Ms. Cebu 2011

Have a lot to share with all of you especially on my future collaborations, national competitions and everything else.

Yours Truly,

Neil Felipp

Swimming with the Gentle Giants: Whale sharks

Last Sunday, I had the privilege to swim with the gentle giants of the sea, the Whale sharks. I, of course, want to thank the Climaco – Bernedo Family for bringing me along in this trip. I’m really blessed that this family is part of my life. Thank you! Thank you!

We left Cebu City at 6:00 am and expected to arrive in Oslob at around 8 am which I think we did. When we arrived in Oslob, there was this huge crowd not only in the beach but in the sea as well due to the fact that it was the weekend. I will be giving a few handy tips in the end of this post whenever you decide to visit the sharks.

Thankfully, we were allowed to stay in one of the family friend’s beach house which was perfectly situated to face the beach where the whale sharks are.

When we were there, we were told that there was only one whale shark that has been seen so far compared to the fourteen that I have heard from social media.

It was really chaotic when we were getting into the rafts to see the whale sharks due to the crowd and the officials had no system at all especially in the aspects of safety.

Good thing, when it was our turn to see the sharks, two other whale sharks appeared.

I wanted to be as close as I can to the sharks because I just love the sea and it was a very magnificent creature.

Merman mode. hahahaha

Jude, Tita Cathee, Elysse and Tito Jingle. Thank you! Thank you for bringing me along! :D

Here are my tips if you have any plans of seeing the gentle giants of the sea.

1. NEVER go on a weekend to avoid the crowd

2. Bring your own life vest. This will be very helpful if the current is too strong especially in this time of year

3. Bring a body board per person if possible so that you will not be in the mercy of the fishermen to see the sharks.

4. Wear a rash guard or better a whole body suit to prevent jelly fish stings

5. Bring a snorkeling set per person

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask and post a comment.

I hope my tips will be helpful in your trip and I can’t wait to see them again soon!

Yours Truly,

N.

A Celebration of Love

People have always asked what it is like to be in a gay relationship. And I always say it is just the same as any other relationship. There will always be ups and downs but what matters most is the love in between. For me, love is universal.

That’s why I want to share this video with everyone.

As my friend, Arlu would call it.

A celebration of love

Yours Truly,

N.

Snow White Season

It’s official. It is Snow White Season in Hollywood. I’m still wondering when will it ever be Little Mermaid Season. hahaha.

Definitely excited to see these movies to show up especially the Snow White and the Hunstman. Still amaze at how Kristen Stewart will be playing Snow White in that movie but doesn’t look like to0 much of a damsel in distress anymore considering that she is wearing armor.

Anyway, here are the trailers and see which one are you more excited for.

It’s official. I’m going Ascot-crazy and it was perfect for the event since the theme was the streets of New York. Perfect for me to wear my other ascot which had a tiny foliage detail. Anyway, here are some of the photos of the event through the lens of my camera and some other few, Christine Cueto and Jasmine Sarmiento. Thanks for the photos, loves. <3

Dytian – Tieng Nuptials

I love weddings especially close friends of mine who get married. I get so jiggly and witty. And I was super excited that a very close friend of mine who I have met in highschool through the musical plays, Lorraine Dytian was getting married. I promised to her that I will be doing her gown as a gift from my heart but as fate would have decided, I reverted to jewelry design. Since I wasn’t able to do her dress, she gave me the honor of doing her giveaways for her Bridesmaids.

And this is what I made inspired by this wonderful woman who has the kindest and sweetest personality I have ever met.

The Odette Charm

- Sterling Silver Ballerina with a Mother-of-Pearl setting-

It was really a challenge to conceptualize this charm. I wanted to design a charm that had her essence and knowing of her love for ballet. I looked at one of my favorite ballet performances, Swan Lake. I remembered how Princess Odette just about to be shot by the Hunter who coincidentally was a Prince turned back to human from being a swan and danced gracefully, and elegantly in the lake. From there, the Prince fell in love with the beautiful Swan Princess. I decided to capture that moment in this charm.

And I’m really happy to say that Lorraine loved it!

Here are some of the photos during the wedding.

Thank you, Darling Danielle for being my date during that special day who just arrived from New York!

THE NEWLYWEDS!

Congratulations to the newly married couple, Mr. & Mrs. Tieng!

And since the reception was still 4 hours ahead, Dan and I decided to join Tita Joy and Tito Emil in Tinderbox to chill and relax while waiting, I was looking at Aziza, the fine dining restaurant had this beautiful table setting with Wine and Champagne bottles, Orchids, Hydrangeas and Cala-lillies for the special French Dining Event.

I even had the pleasure to meet with the woman behind this beautiful centerpiece and in her own words, ‘tablescape’. I deeply apologize but I really forgot the name but she is the lovable mother of one of Cebu’s Upcoming Jeweler, Aziza Mondonedo who I was able to meet afterwards.

Me, Tita Mondonedo, Tita Frauline, Tita Joy (look at those curves!), Tito Emil

Went straight to the reception which was held in Grand Majestic. The ceiling decor was simply breathtaking.

And each guests’ plate was welcomed with this tiny little cupcake which was really moist and delicious.

Lorraine dedicating a song for JJ. Just look at her face filled with Joy and Love. This is the reason why I love weddings. The love. <3

I totally don’t understand what’s going on with my fingers here but anyway, I felt really honored to be part of this couple’s special day especially Lorraine! Congratulations and may your marriage be filled with laughter, joy, happiness and all kinds of blessings.

Congrats!

Yours Truly,

N.

P.S. After this event, thinking that I wasn’t able to catch with the Queen Pageant anymore but hearing it was still on-going, I hurriedly rush to Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug and decided not to change anymore because I didn’t want to miss the formal gowns and the Question & Answer. So that everyone will know why I wore a Barong on that event is because I came from this special event.
