Sneak Peak: Preview’s August Issue

I have been a Preview fan for almost 4 years now. I always look forward for the next issue because it refreshes my creativity and inspiration to create new products for my Neil Felipp line.

The Couturier’s Apprentice

I didn’t really know what to expect. First of all the opportunity is really amazing. I would be forever grateful to my professors Kenneth Cobonpue and Stella Fernandez for giving me this referral.

When I arrived in his boutique. I didn’t really know what to expect. The exterior of the boutique reminded of how a French Boutique would look like and then as you get in, it will merge a bit with Asian Home Accessories. I really found it odd at how there was no fashion books around but mostly interior, history and architecture. Later on, I would understand why.

One of the first to welcome me was his dog, Paris. I think he was a shitzu. I was playing with him and finding his tickle spot like any other dog I ever played with. And finally, there he is, Cary Santiago. He was totally shocked that I was playing with Paris because mostly he bites people well except for me. ๐Ÿ˜€

His office was really amazing especially his desk. It was an Archaic Asian door that was placed in a glass casing. I loved our conversation and a little bit of history of Cary Santiago of how he became of what is today. One of the most wanted or the Couturier in the Philippines.

His work ethic and craftsmanship in what he puts in his work is truly inspirational and most of all, clean. When I went to his workshop, I felt like I was in this fantasy of articulate wedding gowns each one done by hand and nothing on machine. I was even able to see his upcoming collection for his September Fashion Show. I’m really sorry but I won’t be able to say any details about the collection because of confidentiality but I must say, it is something to look forward to.

Remember when I got in, there was no fashion books. The reason behind is he doesn’t like looking at them for inspiration. My analysis on this is that you might end up making a mutation thus loosing that sense of originality.

But I will not be starting to learn how he makes his gowns yet, instead I will be starting from bottom going up. So, he assigned me to design shoes for his collaboration withย Maldita. OMG!

I’m really blessed and lucky.

Remember readers, if you work hard, have the talent, resources and time, anything is possible. One of the things I learned from my new mentor.

Green Tea Kitkat + Wasabi Kitkat = Banana

You have no idea how hard it is to find these Kitkats. I was only able to find them 20 minutes right before boarding. I had to run all the way from the Boarding gate to the shops and I’m telling you, they were not near. I had to practically run. I wanted to buy more but I was in a rush.

Anna Igpit was the one who made a special request for these and I was so persistent to find them because of curiosity.

There were a lot more flavors actually. There is Rose and SOY SAUCE!! I’m wondering how that taste like.

After eating, we decided to take a picture together in Banana Booth. Just for fun. That was really a fun day.

Inception and Night out with friends…

After seeing and hearing the great comments from everyone who watched the film. I decided to watch it with a good family friend of mine, Elysse Bernedo. And we decided to watch it in IMAX! Yeah! Finally IMAX has invaded Cebu.

The film was BEAUTIFULLY INGENIOUS! Everything was very well thought off to the smallest detail. I really got pissed a little because there was this couple right beside us who didn’t understand the film at all so they decided to mediocre the film. I really told to lower it down. I paid 350 pesos to watch and not to hear any of your pathetic chattering.

All in all, I really want to WATCH IT AGAIN! hehe

After, I met up with good friends I.T Park who I have not seen for such a long time especially Yan2x Uang. You can remember her as the latest N. Profile Feature. Love the bowler hat.

And of course, our pretty friend. Jaye Borromeo with me…

And finally, everyone else catched up.

I love hanging out with these kinds of people because they have ambitions and goals in life. And another thing, bumming is not in their dictionary which I totally love. If you want to become a better person with a sense of direction, surround yourself with people to help become motivated. I’m very lucky….:D

I coudn’t resist to take a picture of the sweet couple of night. Yan2x Uang and the Black Longchamp bag. Don’t they look like such a perfect couple. Laugh. Joke. Yan..But for real, Don’t they look so sweet together. Don and Yan.

And finally my turn with the bag and Yan. I couldn’t stop looking at the Black Longchamp. It is totally a classic bag.

My favorite picture of the night.
Insert “Sisiw” here wherever she may be…

Sayonara Japan…

I just want to share this amazing person who I consider as one of the many inspiring mothers of mine, Tita Lalai. I just found out that she is a family friend. I’m really excited to get to know her more and especially her work ethic. One advice that I learned from her is that you should always bring a notebook with you to guide you in your daily activities…

Well, this is it. I’m on my way back to my Philippines…

Someday, Tokyo Disneyland, I shall return for you…

I just can’t refuse to take pictures of these. I just wished our airports were just this creative…:D

Goodbye packed food. I will be missing you soon…

Ohaiyo Shibuya!!!

After a rushing shopping spree, we immediately went to Shibuya to get something to eat. It is really best to shop first before you eat because you will definitely have problems running around with a full stomach. Just a little advice. And besides, the food will taste yummier because you will be hungry. hehe. Basically, if Roppongi would be the A – Class Night Life District, then Shibuya would be right next to it. It mostly caters more to the younger generation. I really wanted to take pictures of the people with their fashion styles but I can’t just point and shoot because I don’t want to respect them. And another thing, this is one of the most densely populated parts of Tokyo. I could just imagine. The Japanese definitely work hard but when it comes to partying, they party harder. I like that…

I really wanted to go in this shop but sadly, it was closed…:(

My Highschool Friend, Saki!! Totally made my Japan trip memorable…

I told Saki that what I’m really looking for is good ramen and she brought me here. It is those small ramen shops that I have been looking for…

This is really cool. Right before you get your seat, you have to pay automatically on the machine which will then give you a receipt which you must give straight to the cook to make your order.

Oh, what a beautiful small ramen shop. It is love at first sight.

Totally waiting for our ramen to arrive. I’m so excited!! ๐Ÿ˜€

When my Tatay (grandfather) saw this pic, he was saying I fit in Japan after all because I look like one. Totally flattered. I just wish people in Cebu would say I look more Japanese than Korean. Nothing racist. I’m just more into Japanese culture than Korean Culture and I was raced with Japanese culture.

Hello, Beautiful!

So, we were on our way back and we decided to take our pictures together with those out of this world photo booth of their and I was able to stumble to this. If you remember those UFO eater or those cranes things where you get to try to get a stuff toy, theirs is totally different. Instead of stuff toys, it is PERFUME!! And I’m telling you, this is all real perfume. I tried but total fail…

If not perfume, then some good quality watches. What the!!!

Hey readers, more to come…:D
